Pupil Leadership
At Beacon View, we believe it is important for every child to make a contribution to our school family and to have the opportunity to take on roles of responsibility which have a positive impact for all.
Class jobs
Within every classroom, every individual child has their class job. These are assigned at the beginning of the school year and then are tweaked as needed throughout the year. They range from book, table and pebble monitors to office messenger and many more. Every child knows that their class job contributes to the smooth running of their class team.
Class representatives
One of our British Values is democracy, and we bring this into the nominations of our class representatives. Each year, the children put themselves forward as class council members, they then prepare their manifestos and deliver these, before voting takes place and the class council members are confirmed.
The chosen children then lead the Smart School Council sessions within their class and feed this information back to the Senior Prefects who lead the school council for the school.
Leadership Teams
We have a number of other leadership opportunities for our children, these include digital leaders, eco champions and peer mediators. These children are trained to take on specific areas of leadership across the school.
Prefects
In Year 6 children have the opportunity to apply to become prefects. They write a letter to the Principal explaining the qualities and skills that they think they can bring to the role and are interviewed by the Principal and a governor before duties are assigned.
Two senior prefects, lead a team of prefects, fort captains, sports ambassadors and administrative assistants to ensure the smooth running of the school working closely with senior staff.
