We offer an exciting topic based curriculum that includes the core subjects of English, Maths and Science and the foundation subjects of History, Geography, Computing, Design Technology, Art and Physical Education, which enables our pupils to choose the themes they study and to develop their interests and extend their abilities. All children enjoy weekly music lessons from Portsmouth Music Services and our eldest pupils have the opportunity to develop their singing skills with specialist teachers.  As part of our extra curricular programme,  children enjoy learning Spanish as a foreign language.

We also offer opportunities for parents to come into school before we start a new theme to enable them to have an input on what their children will be learning. We aim to teach children how to grow into positive, responsible people, who can work and co-operate with others while developing knowledge and skills, so that they achieve their true potential. The curriculum is the means by which the school achieves its objective of educating children in the knowledge, skills and understanding that they need in order to lead fulfilling lives.

We plan our curriculum in two cycles to ensure that our mixed age classes continue to receive a broad and balanced entitlement.

In Key Stage 1 our phonics scheme is "Letters and  Sounds".  We do not operate a reading scheme believing that our children learn best from "real books".

Phase leaders and their teams have responsibility for leading the curriculum within their corridors.

Parents have a right to withdraw their children from Religious Education lessons on grounds of their faith.

In Years 5 & 6 children take part in relationships and sex education lessons which are normally led by teaching staff.  Parents are given an opportunity to decide whether they would like their children to participate in these sessions.
